Unique Project Elements
The city of Iowa City was very supportive of this project, including assisting with acquisition discussions, re-zoning, and providing a substantial city grant for the project.
Diamond Senior Apartments of Iowa City is a forty unit new construction senior development (aged 55 and older) located at the intersection of Town Crest Dr. and William St. in Iowa City. The existing building (1030 William St.) was demolished prior to acquisition to make way for the new development. The project consist of nineteen 1-bedroom units and twenty-one 2-bedroom units. Diamond Senior Apartments was designed specially for the aging population and the building design allows for an abundance of social space. the building's design includes the main lobby, a multi-purpose room with a TV, a library, an exercise room with equipment that is appropriate for the 55 and over population and the property management office. 40% of the building will be fully accessible for those with physical disabilities. Units have wireless internet and are cable ready. Appliances include: refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, electric range oven, a stainless steel sink and a washer/dryer.
