Thorpe Housing Development Fund Company, Inc. was incorporated in 1978 as a New York tax-exempt not-for-profit whose primary purpose is to provide housing and related supportive services to low-income elderly persons. The project was completed and welcomed its first residents in 1981 and has been operating continuously since then.
Thorpe Village is a federally subsidized housing community for the elderly and handicapped located on a 10 acre site in Sparkill, N.Y. It is dedicated not only to providing shelter for its residents but also to creating an environment that enriches the quality of their lives.
Opened in 1981 under the sponsorship of the Dominican sisters, Thorpe Village is widely recognized for the variety and excellence of its social, recreational and cultural services and programs.
Twenty of Thorpe Village’s 200 one-bedroom apartments are equipped for the mobility impaired.
