DEVELOPER INFO:
The project’s owner and developer, Christian County Integrated Community Services (CCICS), has developed and owns more than 100 affordable housing units and 92 senior assisted living units in Christian County and manages more than 200 units of housing in Christian and Shelby counties. CCICS is also an Illinois-designated Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), which means that CCICS is eligible to receive federal funding and technical assistance set aside for such organizations that would otherwise not be available. By law, states must set aside 15% of their housing resources for CHDOs. CCICS was formed by the Housing Authority of Christian County to address the changing environment in public housing funding. CCICS is now a separate entity from the Housing Authority and its mission is to set the standard for excellence in providing affordable, decent, safe, and sanitary housing to people who experience barriers to housing because of income, disability, or special needs.
PROJECT INFO:
Hathaway Homes is an affordable housing development of 26 new construction single family homes located on two sites – one in Taylorville, Illinois, and the other in Stonington, Illinois. After the award of LIHTCs, the project, which was initially designed as townhomes, was redesigned as single-family homes to garner City approval.
There were previously 16 public housing units located at the Stonington site. These units were demolished by the Housing Authority several years ago, and the land was turned over to CCICS under the condition that affordable units would be built at a later date in and around Stonington. These eight new construction homes help to meet this goal.
